Happy Halloween!

Halloween is finally here! Decorations went up the first of October and I will be sad to see them go down soon. I'm not one to leave up decor past its intended holiday...pet peeve!

This year I got Dan to dress up as a couples theme with me! Katniss and Gale! Now do you know why he agreed to be Gale? Ya, because he didn't really have to do anything to dress up lol. But I think I made a pretty good Katniss (I made my own bow and arrow too)!

For Norah's first Halloween I thought long and hard what she should be...but ever since Pinterest came about it seems as though I can't think for myself so I turned to my trusty idea generator and found the perfect costume for Norah's first Halloween, baby peacock! I've never been a huge fan of store bought costumes... when I was growing up it was so much fun gathering things to make the perfect costume and make it your own. Anyone can go to Target and spend $29.99 to be a superhero. Anyway, I had a lot of  fun putting this together for my baby girl.

With many trips to Hobby Lobby and lots (LOTS) of super glue, Norah was transformed into a wee little peacock. I dyed a white onesie teal for the body and jazzed it up with some sequins. I hot glued the feathers to an elastic sequined band to strap around her body so the feathers stayed up. It worked pretty well but with all the sitting, bending and reaching the feathers took quite a beating by the end of the night lol. I took a single peacock feather and glued it to some skinny elastic for her headband and bought some orange tights at Gymboree for her birdie legs!

TA-DAAAAAAA!!! Halloween is officially fun again :)

Everyone thought she looked adorable! But I also got a few random comments like, "is she a Vegas show girl?" And, "What a unique blue angel." Or my favorite, "is she suppose to be Peter Pan?" Whaaaaaaat is WRONG with you people???? Peter Pan? Really? Do you even know who Peter Pan is? And a Vegas show girl? Do you see baby ta-ta's hanging out? I worry for the American people sometimes.

And on that note...HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE TRACY'S!!!

5 Months

Five months is here folks! And my baby girl is a-growin! I'm not sure her height or weight, she doesn't go to the Dr. until 6 months. But it wouldn't hurt to say she's packed on a pound or two of yummy chubby goodness!

Well little miss is starting to roll over more and more...but still not a steady occurrence. Her core strength is really good and can sit on her own for a few seconds at a time before she topples over. She looooves tummy time, until she doesn't lol. Hence, we're working on the rolling over so I don't have to rescue her when she's having a melt down. 

Norah is getting to be very vocal!!! The cries, squeals, yelps, oooohs and aaaahs are louder and louder each day! And her little giggle is still probably the sweetest sound in the whole world. 

I think she may be starting to teethe...I keep checking but no pearly whites just yet! Overall, she is just one happy baby. And here is this months photo shoot to prove it!!!

Going Private

If ya'll didn't get the memo the Tracy's are going PRIVATE!!! I know it's a bit inconvenient. I hate it when I would go to someone's blog I used to read and "BAM," private. I could no longer stalk old friends and roommates and their not so cute children... darnit. 

The 6 o'clock news has made me a bit paranoid. Well that, and watching Law and Order-SVU (man I love that show). And let's be honest...Sadie is not the best watch/attack dog. She wouldn't bark at a fly on the wall.

Palmyra, New York

On our way to Albany we made a pit stop in Palmyra to see the LDS church sites. I've never been before and Daniel has only been when we was a kid. We hiked up the Hill Cumorah, Saw the Palmyra Temple, took a tour of the Smith Family farm and walked the Sacred Grove. It was something special for us to do as a family. I'm loving these little family excursions that we are able to take and can't wait for more!

This little excursion was especially neat because of the rich history of our faith. I loved seeing where it all began and feeling the spirit that was literally surrounding us.

Albany, New York

This last week Dan took some time off work and we met up with family in Albany. We went there last Thanksgiving and loved it. Now visiting during the most beautiful time of year...I could live there! Daniel's brother Adam and his family drove up from DC and his sister Becky and her husband drove up from Boston. We stayed at Dan's Aunt and Uncle's lake house outside Albany and it was simply fabulous! 

Norah met all the family. Here she is with her Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Metzger and cousins Sarah and Ryan (Adam's 2 kiddo's).

We drove up to Thatcher Park, ate a picnic lunch and walked the trails. Is this not the most beautiful place ever?

Our last day we went apple picking. Never been apple picking before, but I looooved it! Here's Norah and I riding out to the orchard's.
